A Little Current Events Quiz

Don't worry… just one question (and 'multiple choice', to boot!).

Question:  Which of the following was cause for the offending country's diplomats to be summoned and scolded in Capitals around the world:

A)  Iran's continued work towards the development of nuclear weapons.

B)  Syria's continued slaughter of its civilian population (20,000 by conservative estimates), and recent movement / preparation of its chemical weapons stores for use.

C)  The Palestinian Authority's violation of the terms of the Oslo Accords in taking unilateral steps towards international recognition while refusing to negotiate with Israel.

D)  Pakistan's tacit approval of murders carried out by Sunni extremists (more than 100 in the past year) against other Islamic sects' members, and the government's continued sheltering of terror organizations such as Al Qaeda.

E)  Myanmar's violent crackdown on Buddhist monks and villagers protesting the expansion of Government copper mines.

F)  North Korea's announced intentions to test launch yet another long range missile, even though it is currently being paid handsomely by members of the international community to abandon its offensive weapons programs.

G)  Russia's announced intention to cancel a two decades old nuclear disarmament program.

H)  The Colombian military's killing of 20 FARC rebels while peace talks were ongoing.

I)   Israel's announcement of its intention to move ahead with construction of civilian housing units in areas under its control.

Please show your work.

Is this a trick question?

It is absolutely obvious that only Israel's Ambassadors of western countries have been called
for a national spankings.

Each of the remaining nations engaged in atrocities, for example, Syria's genocidal conduct killing Syrian children as well as any other Syrian citizen, resident or just a non- Alawite still sanding.

It is clear as day that the Islamists consider atrocities only as humanity and other acts of kindness and hope for others.

The problem is, every nation except for Israel is graded on a curve.

"I," of course. But you asked to see my work. So here's my work:

A) You ask Iran to stop building nukes, and it gives you the finger.

B) You ask Assad to stop killing people, and it gives you the finger.

C) You ask the PA to talks, and it puts its hand behind its back and gives you the finger.

D) You ask Pakistan to notice its extremists, it looks the other way and gives you the finger.

E) You ask Myanmar to allow freedom of assembly, and it gives you the finger.

F) North Korea's flag might as well be "the finger."

G) If that is "The Finger" I don't know what is.

H) Cut them some slack - The Finger is used to form the Peace Sign

I) Hillary asks Israel to stop an operation against an enemy that has been committed to its destruction and Israel . . . says "Yes ma'am, right away ma'am, you WILL let us join that restricted Golf Club if we do ma'am, right?"

Sorry to break up the pity party, but until Israel stops ghetto-cringing in the "family of nations" and starts giving the world the finger every time they tell us to roll over, Israeli ambassadors will continue to be "scolded." A-H are properly exercising their sovereignty. Perhaps Israel should do likewise.

Exactly right, Rich. Nothing Israel does is right or good enough. Seems like Israelis might as well please themselves - then at least one country would be happy.

Wow, some things are bashert. Like my googling "lungi" and finding your blog. Just a nice Jewish girl in Nepal (at the moment) trying to find a photo of a man in a skirt for my blog post today, and ran across your commentary. Keep talking about this. It's very hard to be an American Jew right now. I would love your comments on the following articles: http://www.nybooks.com/articles/archives/2010/jun/10/failure-american-jewish-establishment/?pagination=false
