All Tuckered Out

I rode my scooter to Ben Gurion airport late Thursday evening and parked it next to the elevators at terminal 3.  I left on the 1:00 AM red-eye flight to Idlewild.

Spent shabbat at my little sister's apartment in Manhattan... attended a wedding on Sunday... and took the Monday afternoon red-eye flight back home that landed in Israel at six-something this morning.

Then I went straight into the office from the airport (the scooter handles nicely on Route 6, in case you were wondering).

Now if only I could get my head off my desk.

What's with the "Idlewild"? Haven't seen it called that in 40 years.

I tried that once when I was going to law school, and just barely caught myself before falling off of my chair in middle of the lecture.

Simon ... It started with the previous post which went up while I was still in the US. I was there as a surprise and figured that a lot of people wouldn't have a clue where Idlewild was and assume I was in Aisa somwhere (as usual).

Barzilai... No, here in my office nobody would hear me fall. :-)

Try propping your head up on a cup of coffee.

I think Jordan wants to know what you did Saturday night

Apparently seeing your other sister, your sister-in-law and nieces isn't worth mentioning.

Reminds me of my best flight ever. I was flying from TLV to JFK (or Idlewild as you are wont to call it). The night before the flight I was out with friends until rather late, got 2-3 hours of sleep, and then rushed home to Yerushalaim to pack, packed, turned around and went to the airport for the 1am flight that arrives early in the morning to JFK. By 1am, I was dead tired. Waiting at the gate (old airport, of course) I nodded off, then roused myself and boarded, and promptly fell asleep as I sat in my seat. Some time later I feel the rumbling and rattling of the plane during take-off and wake with a start.

Except that it wasn't the take-off, it was the landing at JFK! I clearly remember that I was VERY hungry. That was the second feeling (after the rumbling) I had as I woke. I didn't have time for dinner with all the TLV to J'lem to home to airport, so my previous meal was lunch at work at noon Israel time, or more than 24 hours earlier.

You don't have to say red-eye when talking about ANY flight between the US and Israel. It's implied. Jordan, you know what he DIDN'T do Saturday night. I remember when it was Idlewild (and it's immortalized in song - "Kruschev's due at Idlewild") but what was the 3 letter airport code?

I know exactly where he was Saturday night, I am trolling for a plug.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue

After you flew into Idlewild, did you go to your sister's apartment in New Amsterdam?
:)
