Four Israelis murdered by terrorists

Seriously... Are we really supposed to make peace with these people?!

I rode my scooter past the site where the attack took place about an hour before it occurred. These four blameless people were guilty of nothing more than 'driving while jewish'... a crime I commit daily.

The Pali huggers will be coming out of the woodwork to explain how this is all because of 'the occupation'. But they will all somehow forget how much they detest 'collective punishment' now that it is random Jews being killed instead of Arabs.

I say we give Abbas' security forces 48 hours to find the terrorists and turn them over. After that we knock down every home in the village closest to the site of the attack.

Let's play by their rules for a change.

maybe the district commander who revoked his carry permit should bear some blame also.

Dave... It was a well planned massacre. The car was hit with a hail of bullets. And then the terrorists approached the car and finished off the wound with close range automatic fire. I always carry, and if I had been the one attacked, my pistol would not have saved me.

I don't understand this 48 hour thing, we should immidately bulldoze the closest village, after that give them 48 hours before we do the same to next closest village. Odds are it was Abbas's "security force" committing the massacre

They are coming out of the woodwork already on Ynet:

"These attacks against illegal settlers are however bound to continue and the world cannot possibly sympathize with victims. The world sees them as illegal occupiers involved in settlement activity in contravention of international law. One last attempt at negotiations should be given a chance to determine the fate of the illegal settlements.
Hussam , Palestine (08.31.10)"

This is what passes for understand. "They had it coming".

According to reports, the attack happened in an area where the PA security does not operate, it's all up to Israel.

Hamas has taken credit.

is it me or have I missed any world outrage that would happen if they were arabs.

Posted by: dave | Sep 1, 2010 2:56:12 AM

Thoughts from Texas: I'm relieved that you are ok. I correctly assumed that this was in an area that you traveled. I do not understand the settlement issue, and wonder if you could provide a summary explanation.
I'm angry about the US media coverage. I'm sick of the silence, the lies of omission and the outright lies from the BBC, CNN, and other mainstream media sources. As Fred says, can you just imagine if the victims were Arab? What about the condemnations from Hilary Clinton (America's new royalty) and Obama? They positively raged about the announcement of building approval that occurred when Biden visited, and what about Biden's response?

Very disturbing.I'm glad you are ok! Stay safe!

Safety is most important!According to reports, the attack happened in an area where the PA security does not operate, it's all up to Israel.

Um, and that's "playing by their rules" how? They give 48 hours and then knock down a house?

Posted by: Nachum | Sep 1, 2010 8:56:01 AM

Max Power... Not important to me who did it. That there is no trace of a peace 'camp' within Palestinian society and that every poll shows overwhelming support among the Palis for 'armed resistance rather than negotiated peace, robs me of any sympathy I may have once had for these people.

J K... Perfect.

Fred... You and another commenter made the same observation. I don't have a clue what that means. The P.A. is responsible for security only in their areas. But terrorism NEVER happens in their areas of responsibility for the simple reason that Jews are forbidden by law from going there. However terrorism is LAUNCHED from their territories and the incitement to terrorism certainly comes from the PA. So what exactly is the point?

Lynne... That is way more than a comment, blog post or even a book. Some day I hope we can sit down and have a cup of coffee or a meal together and I'll share a few of my thoughts. But they will be just that. No two people think exactly the same way about any of the issues you've asked about.

Guild Wars 2 gold ... Please see my response to Fred.

Nachum... They are collectively punishing random Israelis for what they perceive to be the offenses that the Israeli government has committed against t them. Therefore I feel that this frees us to also engage in collective punishment.

Trepp very, very glad you are ok and simply sick over this. The world has plenty of outrage over the deaths of so-called "peace" activists who were armed and attempting to beat to death our IDF soldiers but dead silence over the deaths of innocent civilians, no outrage that these terrorists repeatedly shot a woman who was nine months pregnant at point blank range.

And no a pistol would have offered no protection, not even an uzi would have, the way the car was ambushed.

Peace partners. Right.

"They are collectively punishing random Israelis for what they perceive to be the offenses that the Israeli government has committed against t them."

I beg to differ. They are murdering Jews, because they enjoy murdering Jews. They've been murdering Jews long before there was an Israeli government.

"Therefore I feel that this frees us to also engage in collective punishment."

Again, they killed four people; they didn't knock down a house. So long as we have this attitude of "Let's be tough now! Let's knock down a house!" it's just going to sound weak.

My thought is to show restraint. The truth is that there ARE Palestinians who want peace and who do not hate the Jewish people. Just in the last few years, there have been instances where Palestinians came to the aid of Jews who were in the West Bank and in immediate danger. Restraint. Deal with this diplomatically and with improved security. If the murderers can be found or other terrorists, then deal with them. These monsters hate Abbas, too. Moderate (or relatively moderate) Palestinians do not speak as forcefully or freely because they are not safe to do so. There is hope for peace and for a change. The terrorists will be alienating the world with their evil actions.
My great concern right now is for David's safety. Another attack. This is very scary.
