My son just had a friend of yours, Yuri, as a Shabbos guest and he pointed the way to your blog, which I have, indeed, read before as I am a fan of Seraphic Secret.
From my admittedly far off Ivory Tower of Minnesota, your passionate analysis seems correct.
My simple food for thought is that, based solely on History, the Arabs called Palestinians are never, ever, ever, going to accept anything that has to do with legitimacy regarding the State of Israel. It's like waiting for Osama, the Dead and Dessicated Ooze, to apologize for 9/11.
Ain't gonna happen.
Unless - the Arabs surrender or Israel continues the unpleasant task of severely beating them and forces them to... surrender.
If the Arabs called Palestinians actually surrendered; laid down their arms; and sued for peace on whatever terms Israel allowed, then they would be able to "get" whatever they wanted.
And that would mean that the Arabs and/or Muslims could then peacefully protest every single Israeli "injustice" in massive numbers - which would probably lead to the demise of Israel as a Jewish State (out of Jewish "guilt" and liberal sympathies for our little semitic cousins...)
Which is why, IMHO, it's never going to happen.

Nonetheless, there are some pretty remarkable "signs and wonders" that are going on right now - such as the Obama administration and all that that entails.
It is neither good for the US nor Israel for the President of the United States to make "building homes for Jews in Jerusalem" the sole motivation for excoriating the Prime Minister of Israel over Israeli policies.
Something about those who bless the Jews, and those who curse the Jews...

IMHO, everything is going to change in a very short period of time...
I just pray that we all come out of it okay.
Ellis commented on 'Why 'no' is the only answer Israel will ever hear'tag:typepad.com,2003:6a00d8341c581e53ef0133ee4d2c8f970b2010-05-23T20:18:00Z2010-05-23T20:18:00ZEllisWhile I agree with everything you posted about this, the problem - other than what psachya mentions - is that...
While I agree with everything you posted about this, the problem - other than what psachya mentions - is that Israel's public profile continues to suffer. And the campaign for deligitimisation and demonisation, in all aspects, continues unabated. For example, I see Haaretz tonight is reporting the apparent success of the BDS (boycott, divest and sanction) movement in Italy. And then there's the Gaza convoy. What chance of some favourable news coverage of that? It seems from the Israeli side to all be about reaction rather than action to this propaganda war. We should be proactive. And we should be smarter. To put it another way, we need to be setting the agenda.
psachya commented on 'Why 'no' is the only answer Israel will ever hear'tag:typepad.com,2003:6a00d8341c581e53ef0134817bbd1e970c2010-05-23T14:58:42Z2010-05-23T14:58:42ZpsachyaThe problem here is that the Palis think they have a "landsman" in the White House, and so can demand...
The problem here is that the Palis think they have a "landsman" in the White House, and so can demand anything short of throwing the Jews into the sea. And Mr. Obama has done precious little to discourage that mindset. Quite the contrary.
