Everyone else is going to go on about the kids' pics, but Pic1 is awesome. :)

Photos never lie. Kids are bored by art galleries. (Sorry, education-minded parents.) Kids are excited by ice cream. (Sorry, health-conscious parents.) Men can always, under any circumstances, in any conditions, and in any attire, find a reason for a l'chaim. (Oh, I'm such a name-dropper...) L'CHAIM!

Less educationally-minded, and more graphic designer in dire need of visual recharge!
FWIW, the kids ate so many chocolate covered ice creams on this vacation, I almost/half expect them to sprout popsicle sticks any moment now....
:-)

I dont know about you, but at my pub Bourbon and water means club soda.

Mmmmmm, I want ice cream!

Pic #1 actually makes me ache for the places we used to camp when Mr. EK and I lived in Israel! no water is so clear and sparkling! looks like you had a great time.

And why no photos of Zehava?

We just got back from Safed tonight - looks like we all took the same pictures. I read your post about the NBN J-Bloggers Conference and was astounded. It was a fantastic event and I hope that despite whatever criticism they received, they will do another in the future.
Vacation in Israel in August - it probably doesn't get much better than that! We spent most of every day in some water somewhere - all but one of which was a new place for us!

May I ask which brand were you drinking?
Methings Makers Mark..but heck, what do I know?

Baila - Zahava is in pic #3 behind Ari & Gili with the purple bandana... trying to blend into the background! :)

I hope you guys were wearing sunscreen in that stream. You're both fair skin and I can imagine that bourbon lulling you into a happy complacency for a while. Sobering up with second degree burns is no fun....
It looks like you're all having a lot of fun. Here school is starting. Enjoy!
I haven't been in Tsfat in 15 years :(

I love that shop! I recognise it from my visit to Sfat in 2004. Please enlighten me, how come there are so many artists there and in Rosh Pina?

I'm with Ezzie, pass the Bourbon! (although I prefer single malt scotch).

and we were in Tsfat only last week and as always visited the Mrs' uncle who has been at reat there since 1948.
This time we took the little anglo/angel to carry on the tradition.

and nobody has said "I'll take mine on the rocks"

Everyone was thinking it, Asher, but we wanted to leave it for you. Glad you finally showed up. ;-)

Love the Yonah pic! We know some little boys who eat ice cream just like that.

Those little glasses crack me up. I don't know how you manage to pour yourself a glass, wade into the river and get comfortable without drinking it completely empty by the time you get there.

it's the do-rag family! you guys looks great... and the first pic gives "on the rocks" new meaning...

Love, love, love the pics! Especially Yonah! Even with an artist Mom, the kids look bored in the art gallery. But I developed an appreciation for art post-college so there may be hope for them yet!

Ezzie... We all have our priorities. :-)
rutimizrachi ... Actually, they were bored with having their pictures taken. The galleries were partly their idea. In fact, this one was a place that they spotted and dragged us in to see some paintings. On stuff like that we let the kids take the lead. BTW, when they were in NYC they went to the MoMa with my sister and are still talking about it. So go figure.
Hadassah... I wore a bandana for a good part of the trip too. Us bald guys have to watch out for the sun you know. :-) BTW, do you really think we'd be so eco-unfriendly as to use plastic?
daniel Eisenberg ... Then you need to find yourself another pub. Bourbon and water is just that... a shot or two of good honest corn whiskey from Kentucky with a splash of water added to bring out the aromas and soften the edges. Although I wouldn't know for sure, I've heard Scotch is often consumed with soda.
Erachet... This is the season for it... go for it!
Ezer K'negdo... Yes indeed. Come for a visit, why don't you?
Baila ... We really send very little time taking pictures and one or the other of the grownups ends up playing photographer. This time around it was moi. But every time I went to take a picture Zahava was just out of the frame or behind the kids.
A Soldier's Mother ... One of the great things about being new is that there are so many firsts. But then you start building traditions, which is just as good if not better.
Jacob da Jew... Three different brands were being passed around; Blanton's, Knob Creek and Bulliet.
Albert... Yes, thanks for worrying about us. BTW, you are long overdue for a visit. :-)
Noa... Several cities in ISrael have 'artist colonies', but Tzfat has always attracted spiritual dreamers. No idea why... maybe it is the kabbalistic thing.
QuietusLeo... Don't worry, I keep several nice single malts in the house just for guests (never touch the stuff myself). You'll be well taken care of when you come for a visit.
asher ... Great picture. Sad that so many Israeli families have so many heroes to visit in graveyards.
uberimma... Is there another way to eat it? :-)
M. Patterson ... WPueeze, what kind of bush league amateurs do you take us for. We had the bottles of bourbon (several airline sized bottles) chilling in our pockets and refreshed our glasses whenever the mood struck us. I even had a little bottle of Angostura bitters to add that little something...
nikki... We do like our do rags. :-)
SaraK... See my response to Rutimizrachi

I am jealous. I am in dire need of a vacation and that looks like far too much fun.

Jack: Come Home. There's still room.

Looks like fun - next time we are on vacation, we're taking all of you with us :)
