Silly Headline Day at JPost

Today seems to have been a landmark day for silly headlines over at the Jerusalem Post.  Take, for example, these gems:

"Mofaz: Lebanon war objectives were not achieved"

You don't say!  And to think, it took a former IDF Chief of staff / Defense Minister to provide this scoop!

"IDF official: 6 mos. after war, army more prepared"

No rush fellas... Hizballah was back up to full operational strength in only 3.  Nice work!

"Simhon: We cannot compensate Gush Katif farmers"

Oh well... it's not like you guys promised or anything!

"PRC operative: Shalit is in 'good health'"

Honest injun.  Scout's honor.  Pinky-swear, even!

"New York says foul odor may be New Jersey's fault"

Stop the presses!

Weeellll....look at the bright side. At least you have the JPost instead of what passes for newspapers over here. I spend more time reading it than I do the mullet-wrapper we have here.

Maybe they were having a contest or something? Which one won?

@ promises to Gush Katif farmers:

Men may have honor but governments can have none.

"Gilad Shalit is in good health and is being treated according to Islamic standards of dealing with prisoners of war," Abu Mujahid said.

I have seen the Islamic standards of dealing with prisoners of war. Shalit is dead.

Those should have made the Best of the Web - James Taranto has a section for headlines. : D

Oy.

Hey why knock Jersey? Half of Jersy are ex NYers anyway! Long live the Garden State.

K Newman... If it wasn't for Glick and Horowitz I would cancel my subscription in a New York second.

Wrymouth... It's like a contest to see which monkey can throw the most excrement at his cage-mates. There are no clear winners... only obvious losers. :-)

antares... I disagree. Governments and the people in them can both have honor. It is just a foreign concept to Israeli politicians. As for Gilad Shalit... I firmly believe he is no longer among the living.

Irina... 'Best'???

Regis... Garden State? Irony much??? That's almost as funny as when The Governor of NJ (CTW) was selected to be the head of the EPA. You can't script that kind of comedy... it just has to happen!

@ "IDF official: 6 mos. after war, army more prepared"

I bet Hizballah didn't need a Chinese translation of:
If he is secure at all points, be prepared for him. If
he is in superior strength, evade him.

haven't we always blamed new jersey?

David

You are free to believe that governments can have honor. Just like the Gush Katif farmers were free to believe that they would be compensated.

Just 'cause you believe it don't make it so.

PS No offense intended. Your blog is one of my favorite three.

That's the irony. Some of the excerpts are from articles around the web, but the headline section is very ironic.
