Photo Friday (vol. LXXIII) [new horizons edition]

Sometimes all it takes to expand and extend one's horizons... and to discover new opportunities... is a small change in posture.  For example the difference between sitting and standing provides entirely new vistas:

Of course it is essential that one remain grounded and occasionally take note of how things are progressing closer to home:

And naturally, it pays to stop, smile and look around once in a while... especially after a job well done:

Congratulations Yonah on a lesson well learned.  Go forth and conquer... for the world is now your bathroom!

Shabbat Shalom!

Congratulationg Yonah! And Mazel Tov to the parents not having to buy diapers anymore! ;)

Posted by: val | Aug 11, 2006 1:41:54 PM

You are of course aware that Yonah can no longer be held liable for *anything* he does wrong as a teenager: "Gee, Officer Krupke, my abba posted tushy pictures of me on the net; no wonder I'm a wreck" (I'll work up an appropriately rhyming parody lyric when I stop working midnights, thankyouverymuch)

Posted by: efrex | Aug 11, 2006 1:59:08 PM

Congratulations, Yonah! (And your parents *so* owe you!)

(Note to Mom and Dad Bogner: you might want to consider moving the Cilit to another location until Yonah has his official "sharpshooter" badge.) :)

(BTW-I was going to say something like "Yonah, your pictures are splashed all over the internet", but then I thought better of it.)

Posted by: jennifer | Aug 11, 2006 2:39:26 PM

OH! But we should BE so lucky to be done with diapers....

This is an OCCASSIONAL urge at the moment. Though we do hope that with some more serious chocolate bribes that it will become du rigeur!

Posted by: zahava | Aug 11, 2006 2:45:07 PM

Val... Like Zahava said, we have not done the whole 'follow the naked kid around with a squeegee' thing yet. We are really letting Yonah set the pace. So far he loves the attention he gets when he goes in the toilet... but he isn't out of diapers yet.

Efrex... All of our kids will be in therapy for years. They may as well get their money's worth.

Jennifer... What is this 'sharpshooter badge' of which you speak?

Next stop: sword fights

Posted by: cruisin-mom | Aug 11, 2006 6:18:28 PM

Well done Yonah! My daughter is potty training now too. We applaud like idiots and let her have (single) M&Ms when she is successful. One thing to try that worked with my son - float a few Cheerios (is there an Israeli version of Cheerios?) in the bowl for target practice. Quite motivating. Shabbat shalom - my challah is in the oven.

Cheers for Yonah! What a cutie he is!

Posted by: Bayou | Aug 11, 2006 9:25:26 PM

I've seen in some novelty shops they have paper cut out battleships with targets for putting in the toilet. With one girl just about finished with her training, and another who's a little over a year away from her training, I haven't had a need for this yet.

Congratulations! : )

You can be almost certain that at the age of Yonah's dating, "googling" the individual will be the norm, or whatevers in "style"...
So let me assure you by providing you a link to my search of "Yonah Bogner"

OMYGD THAT POOR KID WILL BE SO TRAUMATIZED ;)

Posted by: Yeah Mal | Aug 12, 2006 12:25:01 AM

A big round of applause on a job well done!

Great pics and post! Worthy of joyous giggles!

Posted by: benning | Aug 12, 2006 1:02:18 AM

It is obvious to me that I am a few years older than you. My children are 24, 23, and the youngest just turned 11. As you become older some of your concerns turn to retirement and beyond that, nursing homes. It is pictures like these that insure the geriatric home from Hell! You were warned.

Go forth and conquer... for the world is now your bathroom!
Especially in Israel. Just make sure to buy him a non-defective invisibility cloak ; )

Posted by: Chedva | Aug 13, 2006 2:14:31 AM

I understand why Yonah would pull his pants all the way down to pee, but why are there no evidence of pants anywhere in the bathroom. Does he always run around like that?

Posted by: Ed | Aug 13, 2006 6:55:38 AM

Congratulations! Of course you've just doomed his political career.

Posted by: Doctor Bean | Aug 13, 2006 9:51:29 AM

Tonny... Oh, I get it... 'GO' into shabbos. :-)

pk... He'd take a bow but it would mess up his aim. :-)

Essie... Thanks. I'd tell you he takes after me, but I've never been able to manage a good look at my own, er, assets.

Seawitch... Thanks.

Jewish Blogmiester... Look, it's this or I drag out the photo album whenever he gets serious with someone. I think he's getting off easy.

marallyn... Such modest dreams. I would think you'd set your goals a little bit higher than that. :-)

Criusin Mom... No, let's not jump ahead. Next stop is writing his name in the snow (or sand).

Kayla... Cheerios are a little expensive here. I think we'll just toss in little scraps of paper or something if he really demands a target.

Bayou... No argument from the proud papa (although the kids get their good looks from their mom).

Nighthawk700... And who exactly pays the plumber every time these things stop up the pipes???

Irina... Thanks.

Shevy Traub... Let me say for the record that any girl who would reject Yonah as a suitor because of pictures like these is not the sort we'd want in our family. In fact, considering that we are observant and would encourage our children to abstain from premarital peeks under the covers... I would think his future spouse would see this sneak preview as a welcome public service!

Yeah Mal... As I've said on many occasions: All of our ids will be spending plenty of time in therapy because of our real or imagined failings as parents. They might as well get their money's worth.

benning... Why think you (takes a bow).

Jeff... True. If the quality of our elder-care is based directly on the quality of our parenting, we're in deep doo-doo.

Chedva... Ah, you remember that post, do you? :-)

Ed... He is at a stage where he sheds any shred of clothing that might interfere with balance or aim. In time (we hope) he will be able to go to the bathroom without stripping completely down.

Doctor Bean... See, I knew someone would find an upside to these pictures. Thanks!

Posted by: treppenwitz | Aug 13, 2006 2:16:23 PM

Wow, Yonah ... not bad little fella, not bad at all!

And I might add, excellent sun-burned sandal marks on those lil footsies'a yours.

Right on, *high five* brutha ... but you gotta wash the hands first.

Posted by: erica | Aug 13, 2006 6:34:55 PM

Those are such adorable pictures. Way to go Yonah.

Zahava is quite brave allowing a 2 year old to stand while peeing. My son is 4 and I am just now comfortable allowing him to do that at home (now public restrooms is a different story - pee all over the wall, floor and back of the toilet as you wish.)

Btw David - great comment to Shevy. That was really cute.
