Take a minute and watch this video. Of all the anti-smoking education materials I've seen in my life, this is the only one that actually makes sense without being preachy or using excessive scare tactics:
I wonder if this would work here?

Kid, you shouldn't smoke cigarettes. Nobody should, they're garbage. It takes at least eighteen months of maturing under good conditions for tobacco to be ready for smoking, but cigarette manufactures don't wait - they'll use any number of chemicals to ready the product for quick sale. If you have to smoke, smoke a pipe with decent tobacco - Samuel Gawith produces some fine flakes, and you can't really go wrong if you stay away from the aromatic dreck made for the Germans and Americans. Ask your mom for a high-quality briar for your birthday.
