Looking at the pictures and turning the page

[With sincere apologies to Aussie Dave who really does this kind of thing so much better... but I couldn't resist]

This photo appeared last week in the Jerusalem Post accompanying some forgettable article about Pali gunmen acting up (yawn):

These are the sub-human idiots on whom our leaders are pinning their hopes for a real and lasting peace.  Give me strength.  Note to Olmert:  You can't talk peace with people whose idea of a parade looks like the picture above.

Being a child of the '70s, I couldn't help noticing the similarity between that picture and this:

Ca4

Seriously, when it ceases to be culturally acceptable to ride around in public brandishing automatic assault rifles and firing them into the air to express happiness, sadness, anger, frustration, rage, confusion, disappointment, amusement, etc., I'll start reading 'news' about our 'peace partners'.

Until that day, I'll just keep looking at the pictures... and turning the page.

For some reason, the picture reminds me of Sam Boga and his idiot followers in "The Gods Must Be Crazy."

Hiiiii Charlie!

That's a very funny contrast. A violent culture that maximally represses women, especially any expression of their sexuality, and a TV show based on the idea that people will watch gorgeous women run in bikinis even if the stories make no sense and the actresses have no clue how to hold a handgun.

Why haven't the Israelis taken over Pali broadcasting? I think you just came up with a great psychological operation. Victory through cleavage!

Excellent. But who is Charlie in this scenario? Does his name start with an 'O'?

: )

I always knew that Charlie had a funny accent, but until now I didn't know how to place it.

Heh :)

This could be in the running for next year's Top 10 Separated at Births.

Same here... instead of assault rifles we have Machetes and clubs.

That is precisely the kind of photo that will show up on some college students wall as a poster for a political cause. Unfortunately, the worng political cause.
Probably "US out of the world now!" or "Jews out of Israel now!"

By the way, which one of them is Patty Hearst?

---------------------

Oh, and further btw, I got a kick out of the firework safety videos. I suspect that the 'LAAF' consists of Maroccan-Dutch college students...... the scraps of Arabic suggest native speakers in the family woodwork, the evident sense of humour suggests University of Utrecht, or perhaps Nijmeghen.

I can't believe how culturally insensitive you all are... these POOR people are EXPRESSING their ANGER and frustration at the continued BRUTAL OCCUPATION of.... Ashkelon.

And you unthinking, boorish Westerners compare these holy Muslim freedom-fighters to a TV show full of jiggly models - typically insensitive Western fare that undermines the CULTURE and VALUES of this PROUD NATIVE PEOPLE.

No wonder they hate us - IT'S ALL OUR FAULT.

I like it!

My typically heavy-handed approach guarantees I will never be put in charge of any governmental body:

SUPPLEMENTAL PLAN FOR ENHANCING MID-EAST PEACE, Sect. 1, P. 1:

Police, military or armed citizenry, upon encountering a person or persons wearing a MASK and brandishing a WEAPON (semi-automatic, assault, pistol, Molotov cocktail, et. al.) should immediately incapacitate said persons (via shooting, taser, or etc.) and then turn them over to the authorities for treatment and questioning.

***

Personally, I can't see the flaw in my plan; it's rather conservative, in that our Angel friends, above, wouldn't fall under its provisions because they are not wearing MASKS. But I think the MASK thing really is a fairly big tip-off. I'm just sayin'.

psachya... Well, the idiot part fits.

Dcotor Bean... Funny you should say that since I've been wondering the same thing. Our close proximity makes the opening of a 'Radio Free Palestine' channel a snap. I wonder why we haven't tried to reach out directly to the masses?

Alice... Yeah right. :-)

Jack... See, learn something new every day. :-)

Aussie Dave... Impeccable timing as usual. :-)

Rami... Much more civilized if you ask me.

Back of the Hill... I was hoping you'd weigh in on the videos. Thanks.

Ben-David... Doesn't it hurt to push your tongue so far into your cheek? :-)

Miss Worldwide... Why thank you.

Wry Mouth... I say even without a mask if you point a weapon at one of us you forfeit your life. Full stop.

Well Trep, regarding "if you point a weapon at one of us you forfeit your life" we gotta draw the line somewhere, or we lose (here in the USA) good people like Dick Cheney and Mike Huckabee? ;o/
